FIFE FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY

FIFE STRAYS
Like many other Societies, we in the Fife Family
History Society compile a STRAYS index. A STRAY as far as we are
concerned is a person who was born in FIFE, and 'emigrated' outwith
the Kingdom be it to another part of Scotland or indeed further
afield. Should anyone have such an ancestor or even know of an
'exiled' FIFER, we would very much appreciate the details. For record
purposes the following are the details that we require:
1. Name of Person(s)
2. All the information that any record contains,
e.g. census-date, place,adress,occupation,age, etc. anything the
census entry contains. And likewise for other records.
3. The connection with Fife, e.g. place and date of
birth or marriage, etc. or "grandson of X who was born XXX, Fife in
(date)".
4. Source of Information in Full. i.e. Registration
office, Record repository, Book reference(including Title, Author,
Publisher etc.)
5. Name of person supplying the information, and if
they are a member of the FIFE FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY , their
membership number.
It is hoped that eventually all information
regarding strays will be published in booklet format, therefore
should anyone not wish the information to appear in such a
publication, please make this known at the time of sending. The idea
of such a booklet, is to enable other researchers to pick up on any
leads, and to help them progress in their research.
Please send any STRAYS information by e-mail to
