Broad Wynd, St. Monance(1905)
One of the first things St.Monans' new town council
did in 1933 was to change several of the town's street names. In
this apparently pointless move, Broad Wynd was dispensed with and
became part of Station Road; Coal Wynd became Forth Street; and the
East and West Backgates became East Street and West Street. The
house on the corner of East Street on the right of this 1905 postcard
was demolished in 1936 to ease congestion. Further up the street,
the building with its gable to the camera shared a similar fate two
years later.
