INFORMATION FOR WINDOWS NT AND WINDOWS 2000 USERSIf you are using Windows NT or 2000, and are being asked to enter the serial number every time you start the database, Try this:Create a new folder on C: called Windows, then a subfolder of it called system, then using a text editor such as notepad, create a text file with the following entries:[trueType]trueDir=C:\WINDOWS\FTYPEand save it as QQTRUETP.DLL in the newly created C:\Windows\System directory. This should solve your problem. |
Q. 1. Each time I want to use the database, I insert the CD ROM and it appears to go through the installation process all over again, why ? |
A. 1. You should only place the CD ROM in your drive once at your initial installation, thereafter place your CD in it's case and forget about it. The initial installation places the data on your hard drive, your CD should only be used again if you are unfortunate to have a hard drive crash. |
Q.2. On the table view it states my Gt.Gt. Grandfather's date of birth (DOB) is the same date as his date of death (DOD), how can that be possible? |
A.2. The initials DOB, MOB and YOB actually refer to Day of Burial, Month of Burial and Year of Burial. These are usually found in Lair records where the actual Death date is not noted but the Burial date is shown. |
Q.3. When I try to minimize (-) the screen, the programme shuts off, how can I avoid this ? |
A.3. Presumably the reason you want to minimize the screen is to enable you to look at another program i.e. family tree program. Drag your mouse to the bottom of your screen until a double arrow appears, press the left button on your mouse and take the double arrows up until your start buttom shows at the left then release the left button on your mouse, now open your other programme, maximize and minimize that to use both programs together. |
