Scottish Death Index
As some of you may be aware, The Scottish
Association of Family History Societies (SAFHS) are in the process of
producing a Death Index Fiche for Scotland for the period up to 1855.
It has long been felt that, although we have the IGI indexes for
births and marriages, the lack of an index for deaths made genealogy
research in this area more difficult.
To make the index for FIFE more complete, we are
looking for information regarding FIFE born people who died overseas
or on board ship heading for a foreign land up to 1855. We also
require information on anyone who died in the UK anywhere other than
the County of Fife prior to 1855.
**Please note that the strays may not appear on the
final product, as it is not officially a required part of the
project. We however are very interested in these overseas deaths for
reference purposes. **
Anyone who feels they can contribute to this project
are asked to supply the following information:
Name of Person (age if known), Where born in Fife,
Next of Kin (wife, parents or both if known), Where died, Date of
death.
