Pre 1855 Fife Deaths Index CD Rom Upgrade

upgrade to the CD Rom
Since the issue of our CD Rom an upgrade to the
program has been produced, which allows numerical searches to be
made, as well as one or two improvements to the general program. It
does not include any new entries to the CD Rom
INSTRUCTIONS
PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS OUT AND HAVE THEM TO
HAND WHEN INSTALLING THE UPDATE!
Double left click on the highlighted "update.zip"
Before you can install this update to the FFHS Pre
1855 Deaths Index:
- Ensure that the CD is installed on your C: drive
in the default locations;
- Ensure that it is working correctly;
- Ensure that you have a copy of WinZip installed.
(If you do not have WinZip, download the shareware
version from
http://www.winzip.com )
To Install:
Locate the UPDATE.ZIP file you downloaded in Windows
Explorer. Double Click on it, and WinZip will start with a window
showing the four files which are replaced in this update. Do NOT
click on any of them. Click on the "EXTRACT" button on WinZip's
toolbar. This will open the extraction window. Make sure that:
- The "EXTRACT TO" entry is c:\
- In the "FILES" section "ALL FILES" is selected
- The "OVERWRITE EXISTING FILES" & "USE FOLDER
NAMES" boxes are both ticked.
Click on "EXTRACT". This will update your files
(very quickly!). Then close WinZip and Windows Explorer/
Your copy of Masterbase is now ready for the final
update; this will take place the next time you run the Masterbase
program, at which point you should follow the on-screen instructions.
All known problems are fixed in this update, and search capabilities
in the query section are greatly enhanced.
